Support from the Local Media

It is great to have support from the local media. With our VJ day commemorative activity we have been lucky to have great articles in both the local weekly Cumberland News and Monday night's edition of the News and Star. Local newspaper photographer Stuart Walker has done us proud with some outstanding photographs.

Additionally, ITV Border came and did a piece about the VJ exhibition on the Parade Square last week. And on Saturday morning I was interviewed by BBC Radio Cumbria about the Border Regiment in Burma, our VJ day commemorations, which enabled us to highlight what was happening at the Castle. Great to have the local media interested in what is happening at the Museum.

We do not have a marketing officer or a press officer, and all the publicity we generate is done by the staff team. Additional expertise is bought in through external funding for projects, such as our Afghan project or Somme exhibition. We try our best to write press releases, latch onto social media hashtags, connect to anniversaries and events, to maximise our exposure. Because we need to ensure that people know we exist and support us. Because we want people to be aware of the wonderful collections we hold and take care of. Hopefully, this weeks' press coverage will help do this. Especially at the moment...

PS. Apologies for lack of posts over the past two days which has been due to computer problems and struggling to connect to the internet!  Hopefully, we are back on track again now!
