The Cyber World not Playing Ball!

Yesterday, I attempted to post a VJ commemorative post on this blog. I downloaded the photograph, wrote my piece and copied the Kohima epitaph. Job done. Or not, as the case may be. Attempting to publish it seemed to prove a problem and I had another two attempts to rewrite it, and download the photo again then through frustration I left my laptop to publish my post and went to bed.

On checking the blog this morning, I realised that the post hadn't published. Then when I had another attempt, I successfully managed to delete the whole post.  Aaaagh! Back to the drawing board and begin the blog post. My attempt to post daily blog posts had just gone out of the window due to computer problems.

Computers and social media have become an essential part of our daily life. The Museum is reliant on its computer infrastructure and thanks to Nick, we have an electronic system in place that supports our work, enables us to keep in contact with the outside world and provide social media opportunities. During lockdown, connection to the outside world was maintained and we were able to work from home and access computer files. It is so useful to have information at our fingertips.

So yesterday I managed to post on social media about our VJ event throughout the day. I could photograph the activity happening on the parade square and within minutes I could share it with the outside world. As could Danny, photographing the event for Carlisle City Council. So here is one of his photographs with some of the event participants on a Bren Gun carrier with the Museum in the background which was kindly shared on the Discover Carlisle site.
